By 2002, technology had begun to significantly impact the legal field. The internet, email, and electronic legal databases (such as Westlaw and LexisNexis) had become widely used by law firms, lawyers, and courts.
By 2012, technology had become deeply integrated into the practice of law, continuing the trends from the early 2000s.The use of electronic discovery (e-discovery) in litigation became more widespread. Law firms and legal departments increasingly used advanced technology to manage large volumes of electronic data in cases, especially in complex litigation and corporate disputes.
